Saturday, Jan 14, 2017

S Portland Maine

Present: Erich Whitney, Tage Erickson, Paul Lessard, Chip Faulter, Ralph Brown, Glenn Mitchell, Dave Sias, Tom Oxnard

The meeting was called to order at 2:20 PM.

Tage stated that although this current room was a great space, he would be looking for a new meeting place because of the parking problems.

  1. Erich asked for a motion to accept the minutes from the August 18, 2016 and October 15,2016 meetings. Chip made the motion. Ralph seconded it. The motion was passed.
  2. A motion was made by Chip and seconded to accept the placement by Erich of Ralph Brown and Glenn Mitchell as Directors. The motion passed.
  3. Election of officers: Motion made to elect Erich Whitney President and Chip Faulter Vice President. The motion passed.
  4. Appreciation was expressed for the work and service that Peter McKenney and Bill Poor did for the Division. Certificates of appreciation will be sent to them.
  5. The Secretary's Report has been accepted.
  6. The Treasurer's Report was approved at the Annual Meeting.
  7. Editor of the Switch Tower- no report
  8. Membership Report given at the Annual Meeting.
  9. Webmaster- Ed Hinton has said that there are no changes in the website until the NER has decided on changes. He wants them to make their updates first.
  10. The AP Report is on the website and in the Switch Tower.
  11. The Seacoast Modular Group has had to move out of their rental space and move the modules back into their homes.
  12. NER Report- Chip says that the Division Superintendent's Forum has restarted and has held two telephone/computer meetings. They want comments on the NER draft of the Strategic Plan. It will be held periodically to share ideas across Divisions. Bill Brown has resigned from his position as the NER Area Director for NY state, will continue as NER AP Chair, and will be the NMRA Contest Chairman replacing Bob Hamm. The NER still needs volunteers for a variety of positions. The Convention Committee has made it easier for Divisions to hold Regional Conventions.
  13. The recent outreach to silent members has had a poor response by many Directors. It was felt that we should be a clearing house to get information out and notify members of events better. It is more important to reach members who don't renew membership than to reach everyone or Life Members. Continue to use the RailPass. It was noted that the HUB Division gives a 1 year pass plus the magazine for $10.

Motion was made by Chip to approve all the reports. The motion passed.

  1. Erich asked that all Directors serving as officers and in positions continue. All agreed. A motion was made to accept all appointments. Passed.
  2. Division meetings for the coming year: Spring- Rochester, April 8; Summer- Auburn, July 15; Fall- Stratham, Oct 14; Winter- January 6.
  3. Maine Model RR Tour- Chip says there is an organizing meeting next week. This year it will be open to the public.
  4. Capital expenses- None proposed.
  5. No open discussion

Meeting adjourned at 3:06 PM

Respectfully Submitted, Tom Oxnard , Secretary
